Submit an Accommodation Request

If you are in need of a reasonable accommodation please use the information for students, faculty, staff and visitors below.

Reasonable Accommodations

TU will provide reasonable accommodation(s) upon request to otherwise qualified employees and students as required by law to ensure equal access to university employment, educational opportunities, programs, services and activities in the most integrated setting, to the extent such accommodation(s) to not:

  • impose an undue hardship on the university
  • constitute a fundamental alteration to a program
  • compromise academic integrity

In general, it is the responsibility of the employee or student to make their disability status and need for accommodation known.

Once the need for accommodation becomes known, it is the responsibility of the university and the individual with a disability to engage in a dialogue to identify possible accommodations to assess their reasonableness and effectiveness.

Determinations regarding accommodations are made on a case-by-case basis.

Requesting an Accommodation

A student with a disability can initiate the process of requesting an accommodation by with the Office of Accessibility and Disability Services (ADS).

Attach documentation of your disability with the application, if available.

Submit to the office by fax, mail or in person.

After it is received, ADS will contact you for an appointment to discuss your disability-related needs and requests.

Criteria for a Student Accommodation

An accommodation is a modification or an adjustment in the environment that enables a qualified student with a disability to have an equal opportunity to participate in the university鈥檚 programs, courses, services and activities. Examples of accommodations include classroom accommodations such as note-taking assistance, testing accommodations such as extended time, internship accommodations, on-campus housing accommodations, and paratransit services.

Eligibility for an accommodation is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Students should submit documentation in support of their accommodation request and meet with an ADS specialist for a personal interview.
